Inter came into Tuesday’s clash with Bodø/Glimt needing to overcome a two-goal deficit to advance to the Champions League Round of 16.

After a dismal performance north of the Arctic Circle, Cristian Chivu’s men really needed a dominant performance, but it was hardly that.

Kjetil Knutsen brought an excellent tactical approach that enabled the Norwegian side to see the tie out and reach the Round of 16.

This is probably a moment beyond their wildest dreams to not only progress to the last 16, but to knock out last year’s runner-up at their own stadium.

You cannot really put into words how crazy this run is for Bodø/Glimt.

Going into matchweek seven of the league phase, they were sitting on only three points, with Manchester City and Atlético Madrid left to play, which gave them only a 0.3% chance of progressing to the knockout stage.

Defying the odds, they beat Manchester City at home and then on the road and beat Atletico Madrid to sneak into the knockout playoffs.

They have also done all of this in the middle of their offseason.

The last league match Bodø/Glimt played was in late November, so they’ve done all of this without a consistent run of matches.

In this article, we will take a look at how Inter struggled to find space through the middle of Bodø/Glimt’s compact 4-4-2, Bodø/Glimt’s emphasis on direct play and winning second balls, and how Knutsen’s team took advantage of Inter’s mistakes to win the match 2-1.

Atlético Madrid faced Club Brugge in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout phase playoffs, and the Spanish side advanced to the next phase with a 4-1 win.

Even though they suffered in the first leg, conceding three goals to Club Brugge, Atlético Madrid knew how to handle the second leg, scoring enough goals to prevent a potential Club Brugge victory.

That said, Club Brugge had many opportunities to get back in the game following their equaliser but did not exploit Atlético Madrid’s defensive errors well enough to score more than one goal.

In addition, failing to defend effectively against Atlético Madrid’s dangerous, recurring attacking attempts put them in a difficult situation, especially in the second half.

Atlético Madrid succeeded in “saving” their season on a European level, thanks to this qualification, which will allow the team to compete with even more determination in the knockout phase and maybe even reach the advanced stages of the competition.

On the other hand, Club Brugge can only be proud of their overall performance, especially in the first leg, when they troubled Atlético Madrid heavily and prevented them from taking the advantage.

In this tactical analysis article, we will explore Atlético Madrid’s attacking solutions to unlock the game, while considering what Club Brugge lacked in its attacking attempts to fully exploit Atlético Madrid’s defensive mistakes.

Over a decade ago, Martin Ødegaard became the youngest player ever to play for Norway at the senior level at 15 years and 253 days, and the youngest player ever to feature for Real Madrid after coming on as a substitute at 16 years and 157 days old.

He joined Arsenal in 2021 for a €40m fee, and a year later, he was announced as the club’s captain.

Over the last year or so, there’s been talk about whether he is the right man to lead Arsenal’s midfield going forward and whether he offers enough in attack.

In this Martin Ødegaard scout report, we will examine the role he plays under Mikel Arteta, the key strengths and weaknesses of his game, and ultimately determine whether Arsenal is the right club for him to continue at.
