Even though Leverkusen and Mönchengladbach are pretty close to each other, most fans wouldn’t call the game a derby, simply because the game lacks tradition.

Still, this Sunday’s game between Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach in the BayArena had a lot of eyes on it, but not for the right reasons.

On matchday four of the Bundesliga season, the two teams that had already changed their managers faced off, and that is usually not a good sign.

Home team Bayer Leverkusen decided to let go of manager Erik ten Hag after just three games at the helm following a disappointing draw against Werder Bremen and decided to appoint Kasper Hjulmand as their new head coach, with the Dane going into his third game within the span of one week already.

For Borussia Mönchengladbach, manager Geroardo Seoane was relieved of his duties just this week, also after a disappointing game against Werder Bremen.

After the 0-4 loss at home last week, Gladbach is currently on the search for a new manager, so at the moment, interim and former midfielder Eugen Polanski is coaching the team.

In the end, the game ended in a 1-1 draw, which doesn’t really help any team considering their situation in the league, but there were a lot of things we can unpack with the two new managers.

So, in this tactical analysis, we will examine what new tactics Hjulmand and Polanski brought to their Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach teams, how the game shaped up, and whether the teams can have a positive outlook for the coming games.

Inter Milan faced Sassuolo for the fourth fixture of the new Serie A season, and the game ended with a 2-1 win for I Nerazzurri, though Sassuolo did not make life easy for Inter.

Inter Milan were compact and attentive enough to avoid a loss or a draw this time against I Neroverdi.

Although they conceded a goal, they were able to protect their lead during the final minutes of the match, securing a very important win that allows them to take a breather and work more calmly for the upcoming games.

Inter have not started the season well.

They failed to maintain a series of positive results; after convincingly winning their first match against Torino, they suffered losses against Udinese and Juventus.

These two losses were painful and have negatively impacted the atmosphere within the team.

Such losses early in the season can only create doubt and raise the level of tension for everyone.

With crucial wins against Ajax in the UEFA Champions League and Sassuolo in Serie A, Inter Milan started recovering from their negative period and are gaining more confidence, which will be much needed for their upcoming games.

On the other hand, Sassuolo did their best to disturb Inter Milan at San Siro and were very close to snatching a draw if not for their inability to exploit the chances created with accurate finishing and the lack of chance creation in this match.

Despite that, Sassuolo were still able to score against Inter Milan and be dangerous whenever they reached the final third.

That said, they also suffered from their inability to resist or surpass Inter Milan’s first high pressing, which limited their playmaking process and prevented them from creating numerous chances, especially during the first half.

In this tactical analysis of the Serie A match between Inter Milan and Sassuolo, we will focus mainly on Inter Milan’s attacking ideas, reliance on transitions, and the impact of Carlos Augusto, Petar Sučić, and Francesco Pio Esposito, who were extremely useful during this match.
